LaNice Powell, a Software Engineer hailing from Brooklyn, New York, brings a rich tapestry of experience to the world of technology. Her journey began in June 2019 when she transitioned into tech, joining Newsela as a JavaScript/React developer, where she dedicated three years honing her skills and contributing to impactful projects.
Before delving into the realm of Software Engineering, LaNice played pivotal roles in the New York City Department of Education, predominantly as a Junior High School Mathematics teacher, starting in 2014. Her passion for education and nurturing young minds underscored her dedication during this period.
Transitioning into the tech industry, LaNice served as a Squad Leader and Career Coach at Career Karma, where she passionately supported and guided aspiring engineers, sharing her insights and experiences to inspire them on their journey into the tech world.
In July 2019, LaNice embarked on an educational journey, enrolling in Flatiron's Part-time Full Stack Software Engineering program. During this intensive program, she acquired proficiency in Ruby on Rails, alongside mastering JavaScript and React. Her commitment culminated in the successful completion of the program in January 2021.
Beyond her professional endeavors, LaNice cherishes moments spent with her loved ones. Whether playing the piano with her daughter, engaging in video games with her son, or indulging in binge-watching fantasy series, she finds joy in the simple pleasures of life.
With a blend of educational expertise, mentoring acumen, and technical prowess, LaNice Powell embodies a multifaceted professional poised to make significant contributions to any team she joins.
